How to create a color palette from a photo

  1. Upload a JPG, PNG or WebP image.
  2. Choose whether to extract 5, 8 or 10 representative colors.
  3. Select a color card to copy its HEX code, or click the image to sample a precise pixel.
  4. Export the full palette as CSS variables, JSON data or a PNG reference image.

How dominant colors are selected

The tool samples the image, groups nearby colors, and ranks the groups by frequency. This creates a practical overview rather than listing every tiny color variation. Highly detailed photos may contain several similar shades.

The first card is marked as the dominant color. For brand work, review the extracted palette and adjust colors for accessibility and consistency before publishing.

HEX, RGB and HSL

HEX is compact and common in CSS. RGB describes red, green and blue light values. HSL separates hue, saturation and lightness, making related shades easier to adjust.

Your image stays on your device: extraction and exports are produced by browser code and are not uploaded to this website.
